New Investigational Products

No Glasses, No Surgery, No day time contacts Just great vision.

Here's how it works: When you sleep, you wear special contact lenses that gently reshape the surface of your eye, so you can see clearly even after you remove the lenses. The effect is temporary — generally enough to get you through a day or two, but you must wear the special lenses at night.

Children and adults can be treated with Ortho-K because the principle of flattening the cornea is effective for both. Myopia control is used to slow or stop the increase in axial length of the eye that occurs in growing children who are becoming more nearsighted each year. This may result in a lower prescription, so the child won't have to wear the thick lenses he might otherwise require by the time he/she is a teenager.

This concept has not been proven. Although starting in January 2005 Davis EyeCare will start a new investigational protocol to study the effects of glasses, soft contacts and Ortho-k on patients 14 years and younger. The Glare and Flare from lights are Blinding.

Patients wearing contact lenses and patients who have undergone refractive surgery complain that their night vision is compromised from halos, glare, starbursts and flare. This is a result of the optical zone is smaller than the nighttime (dilated) pupil. It is more common in people with very large pupils or very large corrections. Nighttime glare can be a significant problem and in the worst case scenario could for instance stop one from driving at night. This defraction can significantly degrade the quality of the image. At Davis EyeCare we are investigating a new drop that when you place the experimental solution in the eye it remedies your visual experience from the distortions of glare, halos and starbursts. Using frequency doubling technology, the Humphrey Matrix will help us conduct a thorough visual field evaluation and assess treatment alternatives. It helps test the integrity of the blood vessels.
